nakedzen
Did the pickup cavities, planed the headstock, routed the fretboard to size. Testing the look of the pickups I'll be making for this. That's not dust btw, the ebony has a subtle quilt pattern on it.

nakedzen
Lol. We'll see how it goes, I need to be really careful with the sander. I need to do a second one and call it Barbados.

nakedzen
Thanks! Cleaned it up a bit, here it is wet to show the figure better.
nakedzen
Think I'll go with nickel/cream hardware instead of the black I originally considered. Slow going with hand sanding to get rid of the final bit of router marks. But I don't want to risk ruining the flat edge with the sander so easy does it. nakedzen
Finally found a use for the flamed birch veneer I've had for a year or so. Thinking offset block inlays from it too, we'll see. Sanded the body to 240 too.

nakedzen
Pickups done. Had to do a sneaky test, just pressed the wires against the guitar cable. Really like the tone. Waiting for the nut, will install rest of the electrics next. Also ran into the oh so lovely problem of having different shades of cream hardware. nakedzen
Coat 5, getting a slight gloss. These coats go on very thin. I saw someone tru oil a rifle with a paper ball inside a t-shirt to get an even thin coat and his results were extremely glossy. Paper soaks up the oil and makes a pretty good applicator from the shirt. Been doing it that way since.
nakedzen
Never used these Dunlop straplocks but the part on the guitar looks neat. Cut the nut, installed hardware, truss rod cover still in the mail and then it's 100%. Prolly need to shield the cavities too.
