Mystery Humbucker leads mapping makes no sense

Recommended Posts

I have a dual humbucker Ibanez guitar that I want to add pull pots so I can switch each of the pickups to single coil mode, so I took the pickups out to map them and what I got doesn't make any sense. Apparently all of the wires are connected to ground. In the bridge pickup, the green wire was the hot output, but green wasn't connected to red, and white wasn't connected to black, but all of the other wires were connected to each other. With the neck pickup, the white wire was the hot output, but the white wire wasn't connected to the green, and the red wire wasn't connected to the black, but all of the other wires are connected to each other. Is this some kind of weird specialty wiring? The pickups work fine and I haven't had any issues.

Can you post some pictures of your wiring please? I'm struggling to visualise what you're describing.
