Great Bay Repair
I have a 2003 Gibson Melody Maker that I converted from the front jack to an end jack. When did that, I filled the open hole with a 3rd pot which acted as a second tone control (one treble and one bass tone pot). I’m not super excited about the p-90 that’s in the guitar, and I want some more tonal versatility, so I’m putting in a humbucker with a spin-a-split. Can anyone give me guidance on wiring a 3-pot (spin a split/volume/tone) set-up? thanks!
curtisa
Spin-a-split just adds a variable shunt across the centre-tap of the humbucker and ground, so should be easy to add to your humbucker with no additional changes to the existing vol/tone/output jack circuitry: Seymour Duncan wiring colours shown. If you use a different humbucker you may need to transpose the wiring colours accordingly. If you were just installing a humbucker with no additional features you'd connect the red/white wires together and then just leave them floating inside the wiring cavity. Adding the Spin-a-split just involves taking those two wires and adding them to the middle lug of the SaS pot.
