smithhhnaa Posted November 13 Report Posted November 13 Hello everyone, I recently installed new pickups in my guitar and I am having some issues getting the wiring to work correctly. I followed the wiring diagram provided by the manufacturer, but I am experiencing a loud buzzing sound and the tone does not seem right. I double checked my soldering, and everything seems secure, but I am still having problems. I am using single coil pickups if that helps, and I’m wondering if it could be a grounding issue or something with the selector switch. I also read this topic on this site https://www.guitartricks.com/forum/t/golang but I could not find anything helpful. Has anyone encountered similar issues, or do you have any tips on what I should check next. Any advice on troubleshooting grounding or other wiring problems would be much appreciated. Thanks a lot for your time and help. Best, [Smith] Quote
curtisa Posted November 13 Report Posted November 13 Can you provide a bit more information that we can use to better provide assistance - clear photos of the wiring in your guitar, the make/model of the pickups you've installed, a copy of the wiring diagram you've used etc? Quote
Bizman62 Posted November 14 Report Posted November 14 Hi and welcome! As @curtisa said, additional information would be helpful. I'm very poor in electrickery, following a diagram with pictures instead of symbols is the only way for me. It mostly works but alike you I encountered lots of buzz on one of my single coil builds. The solution was utterly simple: Despite having triple checked every wire to go to the right lug, the wiring at the jack was backwards. Figuring out which lug continues to the sleeve and which one to the tip can fool the eye of a beginner. As that's the easiest task to check and resolder, I'd start with that. Quote
