Hi!

I have noticed that my images in for example the topic on my SLO build are gone

All those images were directly attached, not outside links. I have tried cleaning up cookies and temporary files to no avail. If I try to attach something, it just shows a broken image icon. The posts from the other members seem to be just fine on my end.

Am I under some kind of image ban (kinda rough, I think I only showed one toe :( )? Did I go above a threshold I am not aware off? Did I mess something up in my settings without realizing?

Cheers!

You're not alone, mine are gone too. And some others' as well. With Firefox clicking the image links just spins the circle, with Chrome hovering above the link pops up a text box saying "Unavailable".

I've set my browser to clean all crud at every shutdown so restarting Firefox was the first thing to try. Then I rebooted my router so basic things should now have been done. Flushing DNS would be next on the list, then resetting IP stacks and Winsock. Then reinstalling the NIC. But as we're both in the same boat I suppose the issue is not at my end, nor yours.

Check the bucket permissions, I have known aws to random change permissions on buckets in the past. If you're using a token from projectguitar, check that hasn't expired too, it might be that a new token needs to be created.

Agreed. Yes, this is the avenue that I am currently pursuing. Unfortunately I have very little time this evening until tomorrow. Hopefully this is the answer, as it is the simple one.

Would you recommend against posting pictures at the moment?

I take that as an allowance to post yet another illustrated episode of Gretschen.

@Prostheta there's still something wrong!

I tend to post the link of my latest post to a friend who just likes woodworking so he's not a member of PG. Well, the latest he could see was my post from over a week ago. So I tested it by copying the link from my post of today and opened it in another browser without logging in. Lo and behold it opened at the first post of the thread and ended with the post of 9th instead of 19th.

After logging in I can see my latest post on the other browser as well. Looks like a permission issue.

FWIW, my reply to Professor Woozle's post in the Electronics section appears for me whether logged in or logged out. I posted it about 1.5hrs ago, after Bizman's missing post.

Oh I see....missing time....yikes

Onto it.

Thanks!

I just copied the link to test on the other browser and it still doesn't work. And the two guys to whom I sent the link are guests and they only can see the thread until Nov 9th.

I've noticed the same, Asdrael's amp post was updated after the image issue was solved and that works as a guest as well.

I'm not sure what may have changed (if anything has changed) but I can now see your Nov 19 post even when logged out, so I don't know. I can also see other people's posts when logged out that have been added in the last couple of hours, including your reply in regards to the wood filler on the sides of acoustic instruments from about an hour ago.

FWIW your direct link to your Nov 19 reply does not work if logged out, so it may be that a non-registered viewer is unable to be taken directly to specific posts (also note that a non-registered viewer does not have the ability to hover/click on a post heading to obtain a link either - that is only available for registered/logged-in users). But the post is visible if I manually scroll to the bottom of your linked thread. I don't know if this is a new change?

Work's for me. Logged in or out. Even with Safari, which is rather stubborn at the times. Mind that it only jumps to the anchor after the page has been fully loaded. And it takes a few seconds because the page is somewhat heavy on images.

Thanks, guys. I've now verified that the link in my previous post takes directly to the last post of Gretschen as intended, even without logging in. I did that by copying the link from the underlined words and pasted that to the other browser. I also informed the friends who like to follow my builds and just as I was typing this one of them sent a message that it now works! Huzzah!
