noviceluthier
hey can you make a strat out of a very hard and old mahogany, i mean will it sound to much like a les paul. (maple neck), if it is will chambering the body make it bassier or will it help the situation. I really dont like the les paul, im more of a strat fan, especially when stevie ray vaughn, clapton, or hendrix are or were playing it. thanks im still trying to firgure how to post of a pic of a beautiful blank i found and dont want to ruin, it shimmers like a jewel in the right light, and looks like jupiter,(if you can picture from outer space). www
Don't worry about it sounding like an LP. It would take a lot more than a piece of mahogany to do that.
Snork
no it wont sound distinctly like a les paul. the main part of a solid body that affects the tone are the pickups. go with some strat like pickups and you should be fine. erikbojerik
But it won't sound exactly like an alder strat either, although a maple neck with an ebony fretboard should help brighten it up.
