BLS
Warmoth has some seven string necks, but they headstock are kinda ugly in my opinion. http://warmoth.com/Showcase/necks/7stringn...s&const=Warmoth
darren wilson
Carvin sells 7-string neck-thru necks.
LoneWolf121188
can you convert a neck through to a bolt on?
Curtis P
i think you might be able to, but dont quote me on this, if you just chop off where the one peice of the neck dips down, drilled the holes in your neck pcket it should work, but this is kinda a guesstimate
krazyderek
can you convert a neck through to a bolt on? you'd have a tuff time squaring off a heel and making it level with the top of the fingerboard, i'm guessing youre trying to buy the neck all done to save time and work, not to make more work for yourself... Can you convert a body to accept a neck through? Just curious! Unleash the bandsaw
krazyderek
sure, just measure out how much wood you want to cut out of the center, cut a little inside on both those lines, then run it thru the jointer to get some nice edges, so essendially you're just making wings for the neck thru tennon, But you'll also have to redo the pickup and bridge rout's not to mention a spring cavity on the back if your going with any type of a trem. Oh ya, and don't forget the finish on the guitar body is now ruined and you have to strip the whole thing, and repaint do you already have a body to work off of? cause certain necks will only intonate correctly on certain guitars, especially if the pickups are already routed for. Your best bet is to try and find a kit

Any I've fallen of the topic and I think we should get back on ........ .........Unless LoneWolf deccides to chop his guitar in half of course
LoneWolf121188
.........Unless LoneWolf deccides to chop his guitar in half of course im going with no on that. remember, as derek said, the point of buying a pre fretted neck was to save time and work, not make more. What im really looking for is a neck similar to carvin's 7 string, only a bolt on. I want to shape the headstock myself (the fender heads are the uglyest i have ever seen ). The page I'm looking at for the Straight 7 (no peghead angle, probably'll need string trees) mentions "Peghead: Right hand ONLY, Custom Shapes Available"... maybe ask if they'll sell you a paddle head so you can shape it yourself. darren wilson
The big problem with the Warmoth 7-string necks is they use either an oddball 25" scale, or 28 5/8" scale, so they're not a retrofit for an existing body with the bridge placed for 25 1/2" scale. WHY they made that decision i have no idea. You might be able to futz around with the neck pocket to get the scale length to work, but again, more work for you. jbkim
Hmm... that's right, LoneWolf121188 never mentioned if he (she?) will be using a pre-existing body or making one.

And I'm making a new body, not a pre exsisting one. I'll take the fender headstock (or some other one) if its really cheap, $$ is more of a concern than little details like that. I'm trying to figure out how Ibanez can sell a guitar and an amp for $150 (jumpstart packs) when bodies cost a minimum of 50 and the neck 100, plus a $50-75. sure they buy em in massive bulk quantities, but uve got to figure pickups and stuff into that too...
