Ok , I want to stain a rounded edge shape guitar trying to make the color all unifor even in the cross grain sections.

Can I apply some nitro base pore filler ( 1 or 2 coats ) , sand , and stain it ?

Will that work?

Some fillers will darken end grain.Try either a scrap or in an small hidden area.Minwax makes a wood conditioner that balances out wood.But it will darken it.Plus you would have to give a week for the chemicals to throw off for when you switch bases.Some people use a 10-1 cut white shellac spit coat to seal.
