Southpa Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 I was wondering of there was a source that had pictures of neck profiles for various well known guitars. I am currently looking for the basic shape of the Gibson SG late 60's. I know its fairly wide and flat but would like to get it juuust right. Quote
krazyderek Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 warmoth has a good page, i'm GUESSING you're probably looking for the fatback http://www.warmoth.com/Guitar/Necks/images...s/comparNKZ.htm Quote
Drak Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 I know you were just taking a stab at it Derek, but I don't think the fatback is what he's looking for. I've had several very old Gibsons, and I bought a fatback and a boatneck from Warmoth. I LOVE Warmoth necks, but not those! I sold the fatback, and although I still have the boat, I'll be sanding it down before it sees use on anything. Southpa, the easiest way to figure it out is to buy a set of calipers and just measure the necks you like. It's all downhill from there, no more guesswork, you'll know exactly what measurements you prefer. I bought a set of calipers for guitar construction use, and realized how great they were for neck measurements as an incidental...they're perfect. Quote
