Guitarfrenzy
Great tips.. I just bought mine, the Stew Mac ones have a cork lining in it to protect the neck. So anyone building one might want to consider some type of material that will do the same for them. I've seriously been thinking about making some that will hold my necks in place perfectly, but not sure how I would make a mold for it. Except maybe using the carver duplicator I have and pressing the back of the neck into a material that will retain the shape, then when it dries hard, use it to make a wooden duplicate? That would be great since it would hold the neck perfectly level and wouldn't let it shift, especially if it was a bolt on or bolt in neck which could be temporarily bolted to the neck caul. One thing I need to do though is make a platform for the arbor press. Just curious if anyone has made something similar for theirs?
Scott Rosenberger
You can get sheets of adhesive Cork gasket material at Auto Parts stores
erikbojerik
Or you could install the frets first while the back of the neck is still square. Then contour the back of the neck last....?
