Strat_player54
Hey I just bought a peice of wood to build my new guitar with, and the sides are really uneven. Would it work ok if I ran about a 1/4" off of the side with my table saw??
guitarchump
Yes that would work but there will still be some abnormalities that can be taken out with a plain
Strat_player54
The thing is, I dont got a plain. Could I just sand it down or something?
krazyderek
the general process for squaring up a board to get it ready is run it thru a wide jointer to get one flat surface, then go thru the thickness planer to get get ur uniform thickeness, lasty square up one or both sides on a jointer (can be ruff squared on a table saw) or if you have one of those nice freud blades and a really good table saw you can skip the jointer, but if you have access to a jointer why not use it anyways... guitarchump
I would not do that becuse u will tend to wround the corners of the wood
westhemann
I would not do that becuse u will tend to wround the corners of the wood use a piece of squared maple as a sanding block, the longer and straighter the better.you will not round off the corners that way.DO NOT use a soft sanding block
guitarchump
I agree with Westhemann if u use a long square peice of maple or hard object for that mater you could us that to finish it up
