brad3091 Posted March 28, 2004 Report Posted March 28, 2004 A while ago, I bought a Squire Strat. For no apparent reason, whenever I hit second fret on B string, it makes this awful twanging sound. I've just changed string and it's still doing it. Any idea what's making this awful noise??? Or how I can fix it??? Quote
bluespresence Posted March 28, 2004 Report Posted March 28, 2004 If I'm reading correctly it sounds like fret buzz. You may have a high fret or your truss rod may just need a tweak to straighten the neck back out. Go to the main page (www.projectguitar.com) and run through the tutorials on "set-up" and check out the straightness of your neck. Then go through and make sure your action and everything else is set right. if you still have the buzz you will have to locate the offending fret and either tap it down or dress it to the correct level. brad3091 Posted March 28, 2004 Author Report Posted March 28, 2004 Thanks, I'm no expert, so I'm gonna take it down to Sound Control and let them check it out. I'll tell them what you think it might be Quote
Biblical Posted March 28, 2004 Report Posted March 28, 2004 sound control are shite, where i live they are complete bastards and very moody, i go to PMT now, they are much nicer Quote
brad3091 Posted March 28, 2004 Author Report Posted March 28, 2004 I might go to Sounds Live instead then How much do people charge to fix little things like this? Quote
Biblical Posted March 28, 2004 Report Posted March 28, 2004 well i get all my prices low because i know a guy who does them he did it for me for about £10-15 i think, i think its normally more than that, im not sure though Quote
weezerboy Posted March 28, 2004 Report Posted March 28, 2004 i reccomend that you stay away from sound control, academy of sound etc big stores = big waiting lists + big excuses try out small self run places just my 2 cents Quote
