Help...Building a 1966 replica Esquire neck

Hi guys. Nice to be here, this is my first post. I want to build a replica of a 1966 Esquire neck as a replacement. Does anyone know how the trussrod was anchored near the headstock on 60's Fenders with rosewood boards? Is it a square slug that the rod is threaded into? Also, does anyone know how Fender applied the 'veneer' fingerboard? I guess if I radius the neck to 7.25" before putting on the fingerboard, then bend the fingerboard onto it and glue it down this would do the trick, but is the thin rosewood flexible enough to do this?
