Marko Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 Hi! I would like to know if somebody has made some guitar out of beechwood, and if so, what are the tonal characteristics of that wood? Is it suitable for making an instrument since it seems to me that is harder and stiffer than mahogany. I know some acoustic guitars are made out of laminated beechwood, but is it suitable for electric solidbody guitar? And for making a guitar, is it better to use harder or softer wood? Thank you! krizalid Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 i think its hardwood. as much as i know, hardwood usually related to sustain and good tone, while softer wood, well, not really good in its tonal properties. Quote
KeithHowell Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 I have made necks out of beech. It seems to me to work similar to maple, maple perhaps being a bit harder. Tonally I would say its much the same. Keith Quote
