Curtis P Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 I took one humbucker out of the package last night at about 10 to mark out where they will go on the body so i can route it out later this week, i took the humbucker out, and underneath the foam was a spring, these humbuckers are Seymour Duncan 59 model, what do i do with this spring? i tihnk there was 2, but its too hard to remeber and its too far away form the computer to get at the moment Curtis P.S. do i have to use the spring?? or is it just there accidently? Stalefish Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 They're actually there to hold the pickup in place.. If you're using a pickguard, the spring would be threaded onto the screw in between the pickguard and the pickup bobbin.. If you're using a mounting, it goes between the mounting and the bobbin.. It's basically to allow for adjustment of the humbucker height.. Hope that's clear!! There should be 2 springs, by the way.. Quote
Curtis P Posted April 20, 2004 Author Report Posted April 20, 2004 whoa, so do the springs go on the screws provided?? i got just a little confused Curtis Quote
daveq Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 Are you talking about the springs that are used for height adjustment (the ones that go over the screws)? You can also use rubber tubing for that if you don't want the springs. I can't think of any other springs that would be associated with a pickup. If that's what you are talking about - they are used to create a force to push against the pickup so that it stays at the desired height. Quote
