bending wood for binding

Hey Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has ever bent any wood for the body binding. I am building a solidbody with a maple top and would like to bind it with ebony if possible but i'm not sure how to go about bending the wood. If anybody has any suggestions or advice it would be appreciated.

They usually soak it in water first for awhile.

Note. If you do this, you'll have to be a bit careful on the details, as the ebony dust from sanding has a tendency to get into the Maple's pores and show up under finish if you don't continually blow it off over and over very thoroughly.

And Ebony is naturally brittle when cut thin so make plenty of spare pieces cause your bound to have a problem or two........
