GregP
Ansil, I'm sure glad you're around, mate. I REALLY have to look into this stuff. Funny, I wasn't at ALL interested in DIY electronics (except an amp, perhaps) but with almost every post of yours, the bug starts catching.... JohnnyG
ice one my man. im always prefering FX that make wierd noises to all these standard flangers and phasers etc i shall peruse these at some point espescially the TSA clone. after listening to the soundslips onthe website i can't wait to get the sucka off you and start scaring everybody lol
lovekraft
This is fun! I love this stuff! Hey, on the tutorial about the "Pot" pedal, aren't you gonna need a resistor in series with the LED to limit the current? Oh, and did you ever get any clips recorded of your 4049 Double Drive? The switchable tone stack on the Plexi mod page is very cool.
ansil
This is fun! I love this stuff! The switchable tone stack on the Plexi mod page is very cool. yes actually that is a good idea lovekraft i found that not everyone uses the same leds that i do for indicators. i use the 12v ones most of the time they have internal current limiting resistors. so you can hook them up to nine volts with no problem they were designed to be drop in replacements for car leds. the 4049 dobule drive is kind of a dead issue right now. lol well i decided to work on my tripple pedals for right now. i decided well heres the trhead i will let all of you check it out. and see. but in a nuthsell i took a list of fx that i can easily make and fit in a small box, and decided to put all three of them in one hammond 1590B box. the fx are eq wah od/dist sampler trem noisemaker compression fuzz http://www.diystompboxes.com/sboxforum/viewtopic.php?t=21275 the first one is up and running [on the bread board. i will have to get the boards made for this one and have went to smt chips] i am doing a dual opamp compression thing expiramentingt with a few different ideas along the way. thinking of making the crimson Od the od/dist most people think that i should go two routes. or maybe even three. route one. Fuzz Wah TRem for the people who use fuzz usually use the other two. Wah Comp Dist. or Comp Dist Eq. for the hard rock people since its a usuall combo. and then the all noisey stuff one.. like the sampler the pitchshift noisy thing and trem or something like that. i got two cases already drilled out and loaded with pots expression pedal jacks. powersupply jacks and the switches. Fortuneately there was a kind enough soul out there to help me with 1590b layout templates. so r5ight now i am moving into the shop, and finishing up a few things for the internet so i can get my pedals online again. got a few HC reveiws up and running frompeople. also working on a scaled down water verb. not quite the same sound but interesting. though.. might have to change the name on it. stil utiliszing the principle that sound travels faster in water than air though. so internal speaker and microphone. styrophome insulated reverb chamber. filled with water,.. and the drunk spider boards are almost completed after the comptuer crash.. thansk for the complkimentes.. and i hope more people will get into expirmenting with there electroniics.. lovekraft
the 4049 dobule drive is kind of a dead issue right now. lol well i decided to work on my tripple pedals for right now. Too bad! I've gotten back into tweaking some tube amps, and I fell in love with the sound of CMOS distortion. We're about to go into limited production on our Tweed-ish 20watt combos, so I'll be fairly busy with that, but I sure would like to hack together a distortion unit to put in front of it for more metal sounds. Best of luck, I'd love to hear some clips when you get to the prototype stage!
StratDudeDan
http://geocities.com/austenfantanio/weedin...athtutorial.htm total sonic anihilation clone is that just a pedal for an effects loop, or some sort of weird splitter? i'm confused... could it be used as some sort of direct box? psw
Ansil Have you anything on DIY delays or reverbs. Analoge or digital? There seems to be a problem getting chips, etc for stuff. Can you point me in the direction of using cheapo samplers. I think I saw that you had done stuff with them. Any use as a delay?? Keep up the good work and good luck with your shop. lovekraft
is that just a pedal for an effects loop, or some sort of weird splitter? i'm confused... It's a feedback looper - it sends a portion of the output of an effect back to its input. Depending on the effect used, it can get some supremely mangled sounds, or even be used as an oscillator. I think Ansil was cloning/simplifying the Total Sonic Annihilation from Death By Audio. If you're not into Noise Art/ Looping, it's got very limited appeal (but if you are, it'll get bizarro really quick). A cool recording tool, but not for the faint of heart. tsl602000
Ansil, a while ago you posted a link to a DIY site that had a bunch of weird effects.. one of 'm was a fuzz. I loved the sound in that soundfile.... Wish I could find it..
ansil
Ansil, a while ago you posted a link to a DIY site that had a bunch of weird effects.. one of 'm was a fuzz. I loved the sound in that soundfile.... Wish I could find it.. i will try to finish the 4049 one there lovekraft acutally my tripple pedals are bassed around this chip as there are six inverters in there in one chip so i can play with one chip and have three fx.. hmmm was it tims???? http://www.geocities.com/tpe123/folkurban/fuzz/snippets.html as far as the delays go, i use the little rat shack sampler for fun, and you can wire up a two stage shift register, to set the sample time, it could be a delay i gues.. i never really tried it. as much.i owuld sample my stuff then play with it out of time. i had a circuit along time ago that worked better to simulate the delay, but i lost it a couple of years ago and it was one of those proffesor things from futurama.
