webster
Hey, I have an epiphone les paul std, there is a dent in the body of the guitar from a mic falling on it. The dent is not a scratch; it’s just like a compacted part. its less that 1mm deep and is between the two pickups. Is there a good technique for smoothing it out? Thanks matt
Scott Rosenberger
it is still finished? or Bare wood? If it's Bare wood you can put a damp cloth on the spot and steam it out by placing a soldering iron or clothes iron on the damp cloth and the steam will raise the dent out. Thats a trick I've used on pool cues many times to get dents out of the shafts
webster
the colour is Heritage Cherry Sunburst which makes it a polished surface. So is there anyway your method will work on my guitar?
Scott Rosenberger
I wouldn't mess with it. The Steam could possibly cause the finish to crack of fog
