I have the screw type, but I dont know if the bushing type is better. Any thoughts?

As an engineer, I would naturally assume that the screw type are more easily adjusted for height, etc. but would naturally be a weaker joint by nature. They also seem to me to run the risk of splitting any wood not predrilled exactly right.

The pressed bushing type seem to be, from what I have studied lately (on my own project's layout), the way to go. The depth of the press fit bushing has to be exact and the angle and location of the cut have to be exact on either one. My only concern is ease of replacement/removal, etc. without risk of tearing up the guitar.

Correct me if I am wrong, please.

I would only use screws if I was screwing into something very hard like Maple.

I use bushings exclusively.

The bushings stewmac sells are great, i recommend them.

question on stewmac's bushings:

how far are you suposed to hammer the bushing part down into the wood? all the way till its flush?

i gave up on finding a decent routing diagram so i just traced around my FRII and routed. looks to be perfect, but i cant tell for sure just yet as i havent recieved my posts.
