I'm hoping someone could give me some advice on what type of fabric works best. Rogviler Posted May 13, 2004 Report Share Posted May 13, 2004 Hey. I would suggest first and foremost a fabric that doesn't stretch too much. Obviously you probably couldn't use couch fabric and expect it to mold to the contours, but if you use something too stretchy it'll distort easily when you're gluing it down and won't look right. So not as stretchy as a T-shirt, but more so than an old piece of barn wood. Also, pick something fairly thin and not heavily textured so you won't have to use quite as many coats of clear, although it's still probably going to be a lot no matter what. Really my answer is use whatever you want, since I'm up on freedom of expression. I'm sure there's a way to make anything work. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'm just saying not too stretchy because I once found some really cool fabric with little round flowery things, it reminded me of something you'd find in India, and anyway, it was super stretchy and when I laid it all out most of the circles turned into ovals and they were crooked as well... Course we always look like the odd man out walking in Just be sure it has a little strech to it both ways from the weave so you can make any contours and you should do fine. You don't have to press any of the forum's special formatting buttons or anything. Just cut from Photobucket, and paste into here as though it were a regular line of text. As for the shirt-- it could make for a very cool guitar! I'm not into graphics much myself (fabric OR painted, even by a skilled artist) on guitars, but that'd look pretty good.
