Maher
IS tiger maple just another name for flame maple? because i was watching The New Yankee Workshop and he was making a headboard for a bed out of "tiger Maple" but it looks like flame maple... Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars
For the most part yes. I have seen quilted referred to as curly tho. It is more or less synonymous with figured
Scott Rosenberger
same thing although Curly maple can be either Hard or Soft Maple
skibum5545
I've usually heard curly used for soft, and flamed or tiger for hard. I've heard quilted for both [edit] but as Scott is about to point out this is incorrect and only soft can be quilt. Oops! I think only hard can be birdseye, am I correct? Scott Rosenberger
Technically only Soft Western Maple can be quilt. I've seen some Eastern Hard maple described as Quilted but you can tell just by looking at it that it isn't "Real" Quilt And Yes, Only Hard Maple can have Birdseye
