kings_x Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 My grandmother died this week after a fight with Alzheimer's. It was sad but I was glad to see her suffering end. What does this have to do with guitars? Her casket was made of solid mahogany. I thought it was sad that all that wood was just going to be buried in the ground never to be seen again. I told my wife, when I go I want to be buried in a pine box. Leave the mahogany for fine crafted instruments. Quote
Maher Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 Sorry to hear that , ill just be buried in an mdf box i dont care. caskets are expensive. Quote
Hotrock Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 Cardboard coffin for me. Sorry to hear about your gran dude (and the mahogany) Quote
skibum5545 Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 Sorry to hear man, it can be tough. Plywood with some nice glossy coats of black lacquer is all I'll ever need. I mean, who really cares if your coffin has a sounds like a Les Paul? Quote
spirit Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 Here we are, and rather than mourn the passing of a person, we mourn the passing of the wood! On a more serious note, RIP kings x's grandmother Quote
Curtis P Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 well, i want to be buried in a metal box, so it dont matter to me, weld it shut and lower me down, sorry to hear about the passing kings x Curtis Quote
bigdguitars Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 yea I know what you are talking about. I am sorry for your loss. my grandfather was a master craftsman, he loved walnut, had it everywhere. anyway, he had a solid walnut casket. was heavy as can be, my gramps was only 5'7 130, so the casket was about 1200 pounds... my dad was not happy but gramps had to have the nicest stuff... Still to this day we talk about how heavy that thing was. Quote
PaulNeeds Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 As long as they don't roast me in a Fender 3-tone sunburst I don't care what it is they shove me in - I won't really be in it anyway! Sorry about your loss mate. Alzheimer's is a bitch of a thing. Quote
Devon Headen Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 Cremation for me. Take anything out that you can use, then burn the rest of me. It's cheaper for the family, and you can spread my ashes anywhere. I'd rather be in the ocean, or on a mountain than in a hole near other dead people. Quote

kings_x Posted May 21, 2004 Author Report Posted May 21, 2004 yea, but how do you know you still cant feel stuff?> but you cant do anything bout it?? that part would suck If that were the case, would it be better to be burnt in a matter of minutes or to be eaten by worms over decades? Thanks for all your kind words. Quote
