Hi there,

A question to all the guitar builders in the UK. Where do you purchase your timber, what kind, in what general sizes and how much does it cost approx?

I have repaired guitars for ages and now it's time to start building bodies but need timber info. ANY help will be great.

Thanks

I haven't built guitars but you could try www.wdmusicproducts.co.uk I don't know what they are like but you could try them. If they don't sell the stuff they will certainly be able to recommend some places.

touchstonetonewoods.co.uk aren't bad, but craft supplies are great and have some unusual woods for some very good prices. For little bits and bobs highlystrung.co.uk are very good as well, not for wood though.

David Dyke seem to have luthier quality and priced tools and wood (I think).

I got most of my stuff from craft supplies, they're well alright.

axesrus.co.uk have cheap bits.

Or you could take advantage of the high pound/dollar and order bits from the US.

http://www.luthierssupplies.co.uk thats divid dykes website he has a lot of wood and a fairly decent amount of other things and offers pre cut finger boards

http://www.wdmusicproducts.co.uk is mainly hardware pickguards and kent armstrong pickups but they have some pre made necks and bodys. the choice of bodies and necks is mainly around the fender family

http://www.touchstonetonewoods.co.uk/ I personally think that items from here are pretty expensive.
