mrscrunter
Hi everyone, i'm new to posting but have been surfing here for a while. I have a question, i'm planning to build a lap steel type guitar with a single coil pickup, the problem is that i might not use a metal bridge, in my experience of guitar electronics the earth wire is soldered to the bridge. My question is will i be able to get away with not using a metal bridge and still have the guitar earthed? Thanks in advance guys
lovekraft
You can ground to the tailpiece without any problems.
westhemann
or you can use an active pickup
Reaper
or you can use an active pickup I swear, Wes, you're obsessed with those things... if you're using a bridge that might not conduct the ground signal to the strings, though, active pickups are probably your best shot. Jehle
Hello Mr Scrunter (or is it Mrs Crunter?) For a lapsteel guitar, what other kind of bridge would you use if not metal?
mrscrunter
thanks for the replies. I have an acoustic style bridge spare and was thinking about giving that a try on a prototype. I think i'll just buy a normal bridge, probably a tunomatic or LP Junior style bridge so i can have a higher action
