Guitar1Jesse Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Hi - I'm sorry if this has already been discussed, but I just joined the forum 2 seconds ago... I was wondering if it is a good or bad idea to hand paint a design say with oils or acrylics and then apply a clear coat over the top for protection. What should I know before I attempt this? Quote
www Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Compatibility of the finish and the paint used in the design is important. Test on a scrap piece. If the paint used in the design is too thick you might run into a problem when trying to sand smooth (level the finish) and sand through the finish right into your design. Quote
