soggywaffle17
well, i glued the veneer onto my headstock about 10 minutes ago, and just now picked up the weights and there are 2 spots about the size of dimes where glue has soaked through. do i need to wipe it off now with water? or can i just work with it when everything drys? man, i hope i dont have to re-do this. Drak
As long as it glued down flat you should be OK. Glue seep up onto the top happens a lot, it shouldn't have any ill effects. Part of getting good at veneering is knowing how much glue to use, it makes a big difference. With veneer, I usually flat-sand it with a hard backer block (scrap piece of wood) after it's dried, so any humps or valleys will become apparent when you go to sand it all flat. That's why as long as it dried flat, you'll be OK, even with some glue seepage, as long as it's not 'out of control' y'know. I usually use a piece of wax paper on top of my veneer. soggywaffle17
thanks for the replies guys. for the body, i think ill go with a little less glue, wax paper in between the veneer and the weights. ill post some pics whenever i get done with this baby, i hope it turns out smooth. What are yalls thoughts on using some strong ass contact adhesive for putting on tops?
