oo7 Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 My LP copy binding turn ugly yellow. Is there anthing I can do co cover it up? Like some sort of sticker???? It look really nasty... like someone with extreme yellow teeth Thanks all. Good day! Quote
soapbarstrat Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 that's how vintage guitars with binding are supposed to look. Best is to leave it alone. There's another recent thread about yellow binding. Maybe it's time for the search function to be more intrusive. Quote
truerussian558 Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 leave it, it gives it a vintage look plus the only way to make it white again, is too strip the laquer, rip the binding off and reglue some new binding in, not easy and not fun, especially if end up ruining the finish or botch the binding job. the reason its turining yellow is because the binding used (i forgot whitch kind), for tehat guitar, turns yellow because of the laquer.its a chemical reaction Quote
Morben Guitars Posted July 12, 2004 Report Posted July 12, 2004 Yes, leave it be! It's not the binding that's changing color as much as it is the lacquer. You'll notice the same thing on an old guitar when you remove the pickguard. All those "vintage yellow" teles have a bright white "tan line" under the pickguard.. Quote
