rabidmoose171
So i was thinking about converting my moded up the butt rg from a hard tail to a tun o matic. Right now its just based on looks, and me thinking i would get better harmonics... set me strait. And how would i need to go about measuring so i dont screw up the scale lenght, and intonation. rabidmoose171
Couldnt find it... ya ive been here since aprilish... no name is here too. Anyway, i was enlightened that the neck would have to be angeled back, someone tell me how hard this would be, and how to do it.

G_urr_A
Angling the neck would be done by putting shims in the neck pocket. Another way of fixing that problem would be to recess the ToM. About intontation and such, I have no info to give that I trust enough. Someone else will have to help you with that.
Dr. Jabsco
do they make tune-o-matics for basses?
spirit
The intonated string length is never shorter than the scale length, so assuming your measurement and placement is spot on, you should measure the scale length to the saddles, when they are at their furthest forward point. If that doesn't make as much sense as I hoped, please tell me. Or ask Perry (rhodes56)
spirit
Oh, and th scale length will be the distance from the nut to the 12th fret times

darren wilson
I'm a little confused... why would you want to convert a guitar that already has a flat-mount fixed bridge to a tune-o-matic style fixed bridge? Is there a difference in tone, if all other elements are the same?
bigdguitars
um no not really, don't add shims leave the guitar as it. Adding a gibson type bridge is a hassel. Build a guitar with an angle then go from there. Conversion is not a good idea... by the time you get it setup right its not worth it. RAI6
If anything you could just make your flat mount bridge into a string-through body flat mount. That should help you a little tone/sustain wise...
rabidmoose171
It is string trough, well kinda, yea. oh well it was just something differenent. Scratch the idea. Ill just do a mccarty or tune o matic on my next project
