vicarious484
I have a question about wiring a humbucker (HS-3) with 2 Fender stock single coils. How can I give more power to the humbucker? The bridge single coil seems louder and more powerful than the HS-3. Is it possible I have the ground and hot leads reversed? Thanks, Glen
vicarious484
Also, is a 500 K volume pot recommended for the HS-3? Or with the two single coils will it mess up their sound? Looking to get Yngwie's pickup sound. Thanks all!
ansil
the best way to tell is to measure it with a multimeter in my experiecne the h3 wasn't that hot. ie loud i mean it was a nice sounding pickup but just not that loud. i have pjmarx that i gave a friend of mine as his bridge pickup is crap he loves this but he thinks its louder than the others and i was like no its brighter theres a difference.. but its not louder. krazyderek
indeed, if you look at the dimarzio pdf catalogue, you'll see the hs-2 and 3 aswell as the yjm have some of the lowest outputs of all their pickups. Yngwie gets his tone (drive) from using a dod 250 in front of a marshall tube amp.
