brendo_91
Hi, first time builder here looking to cut costs and still come out with a playable instrument. http://www.mathewstimber.com.au/product.htm Which of those woods are suitable for a guitar neck? More importantly, which are the CHEAPEST that are suitable
Drak
Eastern Hardrock Maple is probably the cheapest and is perfectly suitable.
Primal
Agreed. There is a reason that 99.9% of all guitars have maple necks.

Myka Guitars
This website has some strange woods. There is Northern, Southern, and Eastern but no Western (that almost covers it all, but wait...). They have Blackbean and Blackbutt (?). Never heard of those before, very unique. Brush Box and Pencil woods for specific usage I assume. There is also Silky, Curly, and Spotted wood. They also have American wood for the 100% made in the USA guitar. Nice! brendo_91
From what I hear, Mathews are the suppliers to Maton Guitars. Yeah, Blackbutt is a form of Eucalyptus I think. So the conensus is Maple, is it? Rock Maple would be what's listed there as "American" I take it?
