68 lost souls
Hi, the tailpiece Im looking isnt available in black which I realy want as I dont think chrome or gold will suit the finish. Woul I be able to paint the tailpiece using car paint from a rattle can? Thanks
benno
I am condering doing that too with automotive paint, painting my tuning knobs black. Id reckon you'd need primor, then a couple coats. I think it would work, try 1st on a similar material. Ben
darren wilson
Getting the parts properly plated or powder coated is the only way to get really good results on parts that are going to be subject to a lot of handling and wear and tear. Paint will wear/flake off very quickly.
Docaroo
Hi Chaps.... I think you would have to sand down the chrome metal finish first so that there is a ruff surface for the new paint to stick to. You would have to get that chrome off - some metal shops have a method of doing this by blowing it with an abrasive, which you could get them to do! I wouldn't paint straight over the top of the metal though, even with a primer/ I have no experience of special "metal" paints either so i can't say how good these are!
