arcus94
What's the best way to fill or repair stripped mounting screw holes on single coild pickups? Epoxy and then drill new holes? Melt the material arounf the hole w/ a soldering iron? What's the safest way(with regard to the pickup?) thanks!!
truerussian558
well defenitally refilling and drilling, melting is an uncontralable element and it will doubtfully work good. and another option is the glue the crakc or break (or whatever happened. Maiden69
filling up the hole and redrilleng will not be that easy, you need to tap the threads, and if you don't have the right tap it's very tricky to do it with a screw... I will suggest going with te next bigger size screw, or opening the hole a bit more, get some 2 part epoxi to fix metal parts, (Marine tech is one Iused to use to fix intake manifolds and heads for VW's) so it will hold., and just glue a nut that will hold the screw to the bottom of the pup base. soapbarstrat
Never did it, but my first attempt would probably be to drill out the stripped hole (I'm talking those plastic bases) to a size where a little nut can be pressed in there , then super-glued. Heck, maybe even a small brass threaded insert.
