Okay...I know this isn't apropos...

Recommended Posts

I know that this isn't a solid body guitar question, HOWEVER, i know that the fine people who lurk about on this board are extremely knowledgable so i thought I'd throw it up. My question is this:

I'm going to replace the grill cloth on my 4X12 cab. I know what I want but don't know where to get it. I want to cover the grill in the cloth that Orange uses.

It's almost like a wicker lattice. Anyhow. I know very little about grill cloth, so to be honest, i'm not sure if it's wicker or strech elastic!

Any help or direction is well appreciated!

I've tried for 5 years or more to score some real orange basketweave tolex for a project, it is 100% impossible to find that stuff.

I'm -still- pissed about it. I've asked at least a dozen (good) sources, all for squatto.

Good luck.

Well, since I've posted, I've gotten a couple reliable leads. I heard that Orange themselves will supply it. ALSO! A guy told me that Matamp (in the UK) sells the stuff (they use it in their cabs) and he says it's the exact precise stuff. He himself uses it to re-grill Orange cabs. Anybody tried either of these?

I think I remember both of those leads being offered to me about the tolex, but I could never get in touch with either, no returned e-mails, just answering machines when I called.

Maybe the grillecloth will be different for you, again, good luck, hehhe.

Matamp comes through! They suppl the same stuff that Orange uses! Score. I'll post some pics after i rejuvinate my amp and cab. I have a Johnson Millennium 250 watt head and a matching 412 slant cab. I took the poor guys on tour with no tour cases. So they're a little beat up, but sound GREAT! So I'm-a-gonna replace all the hardware (screws, corners, etc...) and then I'm going to apply herculiner (like Line_X bed liner) to all the surfaces. It should be pretty sweet.
