GlensGuitars 1 Posted September 21, 2022 Report Share Hi Bizman62, What sort of finish is on this guitar? It looks more natural. Quote Link to comment
Bizman62 2,228 Posted September 28, 2022 Report Share Hi @GlensGuitars It looks and feels natural indeed. I used OsmoColor #3001 clear oil wax - we have that on our upstairs floors as well so it's not a dedicated fancy luthier product! If memory serves me right I applied several coats, wiping the excess off despite what the instructions said. Then again, two coats and buffing might have given the same result... Then I applied some Simoniz Classic car wax ("for cars and furniture") for extra sheen. Despite the natural looks it's water repellent. I just tested it by pouring some water on the top and most of it just rolled off. Here's more about it: Quote Link to comment
GlensGuitars 1 Posted October 28, 2022 Report Share Very cool. I have never thought of a floor product on a guitar but they must be strong. What do you mean by outlet? Quote Link to comment
Bizman62 2,228 Posted October 31, 2022 Report Share Outlet store. They had a store for surplus and rejects. The "floor product" as you called it is plain solid wood, nothing fancier. Some of the species they had are common in guitar building, like maple, walnut or sapele. Some not as familiar in guitars, yet they behave well. I mean, you don't want a floor or a piece of furniture that warps heavily depending on the weather. Neither do you want a guitar that does that! Quote Link to comment
