  1. I just started getting into his music after watching the documentary on Netflix. I never paid much attention as his music never appealed to me. Once seeing how he was as a person and how he dealt with the behemoth known as the music industry gave me a real appreciation for him then to hear of his passing really sucks. Apparently he was just a regular guy who happened to get where he was via drive and self motivation. He wasn't a rock star, He was a working musician like many of us.

  2. Reading through the thread to see what I missed and took a sip of coffee right before I read your post resulting in a laugh that dumped half the sip down my wind pipe and the other shot out straight through my nose. Don't know which hurt worse. Sitting here trying to laugh while hot coffee burning my nasal passages and lungs.

  6. Love the lines on front and curves on back approach. A nice design, plus the added benefit of the comfort against your body. I really like the simplicity of the front and can't wait to see some finish on it.

  7. Started the assembly! Nut is glued on, tuners were (barely) fit, strap buttons. Starting to look like a bass! I'm waiting on the black screws for the pickguard and the jack plate, which is still just rough cut. As a note for the next build, I need to work further on my finishing and I need to sharpen the lines, there are some bumps visible now, not that bad, but there... 137 by Goran P, on Flickr 138 by Goran P, on Flickr 145 by Goran P, on Flickr

  9. Hey guys, the old weathered wood was just the template and in fact nothing else than a coated piece of MDF. A thing I've missed in my last update... did you notice that the bridge humbucker is mounted frameless and directly to the top? I did the routing "underground" to the top with a router of 35mm in diameter. This was really a scary job... one wrong movement and the top would have been destroyed. Looking back this was really a reckless job, so next time i will route the cavity before glueing on the top... As next the electronics cavity got a fold and a matched cover made

  11. Been a while since I posted progress. Life got in the way a little (work, vacation, stuff). Also, spent a bunch of time building jigs, which slowed some of our progress. But, we have been making progress, and I've just been derelict in my duty to post updates. So the last thing I posted about was the truss rod channel. Since then... Trimmed the fretboard to final width, and trimmed the headstock to final shape using the new router/shaper setup. Cut out the fretboard, radiused and cut fret slots. Bound the fretboard with ivory colored ABS binding

  12. The body carve and shape is pretty much finished. In the back, I added a scoop at the lower cutout for good upper-fret access and managed to cut a sliver of the camphor laurel for the control cover: And yes - needing new glasses or not, the string bar IS supposed to be on a slant The fretboard's not glued yet but the fretmarker positions are better (don't worry about the 3rd - it is 1mm smaller but is indeed in line with the rest): The top is coming out nicely. With the final gloss coats this is going to look really nice And Tim's sent me the profile me
