ProjectGuitar.com Forum Usage
-
The forums are open to registered members, and for the most part language is unfiltered. Most of the work that is involved in making or modifying an instrument is potentially dangerous. This should be your primary concern rather than the occasional salty language.
-
As an open forum for discussion you should take into consideration that opinions, questions and follow-up answers expressed in the forum may not be accurate. Whilst members provide information freely based on their experience and knowledge, it is up to your own judgement on how you interpret that information for your own requirements.
-
Receiving or giving a different opinion about how or what to do is not an attack on personal ideals and ways of doing something, just a healthy way of viewing and learning different ways to go about what needs to be done. There is rarely only one right way to do anything; having several ways to achieve the same end contributes to richer understanding.
-
Posting images and illustrations is positively encouraged. It is preferable that they are directly attached to posts or uploaded to our Gallery system rather than being remotely hosted. Several years worth of broadly-useful tutorials have suffered irretrievable image link rot in the forums because of this! Whilst we will not prevent remote image hosting use (that would be ridiculous) we do advise against it.
-
Works (images, text, etc.) protected by intellectual property rights posted without permission will be removed unless clearly stated as qualifying under fair use. Whilst we actively promote sharing, collaboration and proliferation of information, ProjectGuitar.com does not have the resources to arbitrate intellectual property conflicts.
-
Content that could be classed as "not work-safe" is generally discouraged. We do not however discourage building guitars at work. What you might deem as acceptable might not be so for the majority of forum users, or the people looking over the shoulder of people wasting time at work on ProjectGuitar.com; the off-topics forum was introduced specifically for this purpose. It's a good idea to avoid that shadowy place whilst on the company dollar.
-
The moderating team donate their time and efforts to ensure the smooth running of the board. They have the last word if an issue should arise and have the full backing and support of the board administrators. Should you notice spam, abuse of the board, victimization or conduct that cuts across the grain, inform the moderation team. You can use either the "Report" function found on each post or PM them with any general concerns you have.
-
There is be no flaming, derogatory/hateful remarks, continuous foul/explicit language, divisive behaviour, member trolling or passive-aggressive baiting. The OldGoldenRule™ of sense applies; if you don't have anything nice or useful to say, then it might be best not to say anything at all. ProjectGuitar.com is intended to be a positive and open community free of elitism or discrimination. Do bear in mind that our community has existed for well over a decade; don't confuse insinuations about @westhemann's goat problems with personal abuse.
-
Members found to be logging on to the forum using multiple IDs, expressing ill will towards members, or the site and forum itself (even outside of the forum) can and will be suspended Primarily, this is a community for sharing information and learning, not a hangout for ranting, soapboxing, chest-beating, ego waving and stirring up conflict. Controversy and constructive debate are encouraged; idiotic bigotry is not.
-
Attempts to subvert moderator authority or gaming forum acceptable use will not be tolerated. This includes re-registering user names to bypass bans, starting new threads to bypass moderated thread closures or ignoring moderation warnings. Publicly questioning or commenting on moderator authority is not the correct course of action in any circumstances, however you are welcome to talk to any of the staff one-to-one.
-
The moderating staff have the final say over what is deemed appropriate; this might seem like some sort of Orwellian catch-all, however all we ask is that you respect the hard work that is freely donated by the moderating staff, help contribute to fostering a positive open community and work with rather than against them!
ProjectGuitar.com Member Profiles

-
...commercial links to external websites are restricted purely to verified vendors (PM the mods)
-
...your profile/signature info be composed of a reasonable font size compared to the size of the default forum post font size

Publicly informing forum members on good deals or helping them find products for which they have specifically asked for help in finding is of course encouraged. Please conduct actual business off-site, by email or PM rather than "in public". We can neither arbitrate nor provide any form of guarantee, recourse or recommendation for private commerce.
