    I've used their Fat PAF, Liverpool, Mean 90, and P90. All have been very good and sound great. Sorry, can't help on the Strat sets, but I do hear good things about them.

    Very nice job!! ... Bolt head knobs would be very cool. Cut the heads off some stainless bolts, grab some cobalt bits, and polish / wire brush as desired. Maybe some imperial styled tuner knobs would add to the frankie bolt look?

    Paint is opaque and is not what you would use if you want to see the grain. What you would want to do is either or dye the maple the color you want then clear coat it, and / or tint the clear with your dye and shade to your desired level of transparency.

    I have not done a lot of dots, but so far my preferance is to use CA, I guess I just like the quick setup time. As for shimming the neck to get a strait hole, I probably would. It will allow your bit to enter flat to minimize any wobble / travel / tearing. Another consideration is the thickness of your inlay. A thin dot set at an off angle risks being sanded through on the low edge.

    Looks good! Lap Steels are a kick to play and fun to build. This is the first one I built Here are two I have in progress Singlecut Deco The first one is 22.5" scale, and the two in progress are 25".

    I had one of those little Deltas and I wanted to like it so bad, but had to retun it. The outfeed was warped and the fence broke the first day. I really wanted to love it though, great weight, good power, 2 speed, ... If you score one with good tables, your set. I wonder if in fact the referbs could be better than the fresh ones off the boat. Ended up finding a real nice older 6" Craftsman on Craigs List for $125. It's one of the smaller 36"models so it's not "too" hard to move and it is flat and true:) If you keep your eyes pealed, there are some good deals pop up on Craigs List.

    I have one of the 10" Craftsman saws and although it is not perfect, it seems to be a good saw for what it is. I got mine after Xmas for $107, sale + Craftsman Club deal. Put a Timberwolf blade on it from http://ebandsawblades.com/ and it cuts quite well.
