  1. i am thinking of building a cabinet myself, for my small practise amp its an Orange crush 10. i was just wondering how you went about making the electronics, is it very straightforward or is it complicated?
  2. Normally I would agree, but on this guitar they really matched.
  3. but of course they won't match up, when you put a saw to the plank you are going to take away some wood, the only way u could have a perfect bookmatch was if you didn't take away any wood. Adn since this is the way saws work it is impossible with a saw, i don't think you could get it perfect even with a laser,(if this is possible, i don't know)
  4. I was wondering if it was essential to use copper tape to shield my guitar, or if I could use aluminiumfoil and CA?
  5. if that piece isn't dry then i don't know which pieces will be.. it was chopped down some ten years ago. and it has been lying in an attic, my only concern is that it has some cracks, and i don't know how deep they are...
  6. sorry bout the big pics, but i didn't find the thing that made them smaller, and i have forgotten ALL my HTML...
  7. Okay finally got my a** of the ground and started building my first guitar. Actually it is my father who has done most of the work, as h is most skilled with the tools(being a retired carpenter and all...) He whipped out the old chainsaw and had a go at my appletree log... then we put it on the tablesaw, but it was too small to cut through the log so we are going to talk to a neighbour who has a bigger one... And no it is not flames or any fancy figure in the wood, its only marks from the chainsaw. the dark line is from where we cut with the tablesaw... And i think it is a very hard wood. the sparks were flying, and my dad used a long time to cut of one of the sides. we didn't want to use the chainsaw to cut the rest, because it takes out way too much wood, and its difficult to get a straight edge... anyhow this is my first build, and to my knowledge the first in this forum from appletree, so this is an experiment in more ways than one... and here is the page to view it all...Killah
  8. Okay first time I say this... I really like that Jem... They aren't my cup of tea, but that one was really cool. like the swirl fnish alot!!!
  9. hah I'm from Norway, and i think i got it... (perhaps it helps that i had German in school...) But Norwegian and Dutch are more similar than Norwegian and German...
  10. Perhaps you should have a different name for the Bass version, like Gibson's Fire/Thunder-birds... maybe Cutlass/Machete?
  11. I am buying the neck from the local luthier (never thought I would say that I had a local luthier... we live somewhat remote)
  12. i won't know if it'll sound good or even look good, but if nobody tries, then nobody will know... and if its a f-up it might or even probably is because i have never built a guitar before... (have been reading much of what has been written here though...)
  13. haha I hadn't looked good enough... further back in the attic was to big pieces... looks like its gonna happen, i'll post pics and such as soon as i get things off the ground.
