  1. I don't know where to put this, so I'll try it here. Yesterday, I did some inlay on an ebony fretboard and then used some ebony sawdust and CA glue to fill in some small gaps; worked great. But today I did the exact same thing but on a rosewood fretboard and with rosewood saw dust. Wow. I added the glue to the saw dust and it IMMEDIATELY hardened, began bubbling and smoking quite violently and created an extrordinary amount of heat, So much heat that it almost melted through the plastic conatiner I was using. What happened here? At first I thought it might be the glue reacting with the plastic container or something, but it was the exact same type of container that I used with the ebony saw dust. Do they treat rosewood with something volatile? What gives with rosewood dust and CA glue? The fretboard was from stewmac, if that helps. Thanks
  2. How would you recess the control cavity cover using a template? Do you have to use a bearing setup? I can't figure out how to do it without cutting into the template.
  3. For my first guitar I was able to use a friend's bandsaw but he moved. So, what is the best way of cutting neck sides without one? I don't have a scroll saw either. Yeah, I'm stuffed to the rafters with tools. But I do have a table saw. Anything?
  4. Can you use a dremel on a plunge base to cut out pickup cavities instead of a router?
  5. How bad is spray lacquer to breathe anyway? Is it worse than other spray paints or things like that?
  6. Another quick question: Why are these so cheap? I read somewhere on this site that people have bought these before and they are good quality. But i was wondering why these were so inexpensive. here
  7. I pretty new at this, but is this too good to be true. Thats alot of nice looking Quilted Maple Veneer for a great price. here
  8. wow. Thats unfortunate. I guess I'll have to consider the options. Thanks.
  9. How do you use CA as a grainfiller?
  10. What do you do for a respirator if you have a beard? I tried using one, but you can't get the recommended seal around your mouth because of the hair. Are there pro-beard respirators or do the respirator companies hate bearded America? I don't want the lacquer to kill me just because I have a beard and the respirator won't function properly. Thanks.
  11. I was looking through a muscian's supply catalog and they were selling floor guitar stands. But it had a note that said: not for guitars with nitrocellulose lacquer. The stand looked like the classic tripod guitar stand, completely normal and like several that I have. Why can't you use certain stands with nitro lacquered guitars?
  12. Hey, Quick question: What would happen if I put on several coats of Stew Mac Nitro Aerosol Lacquer and then put on the rest of the coats a couple of days later? I have to go out of town for a couple of days and was wondering if I could get a head start before I left and put of as much as 4 coats. Or would it be better to just wait until I come back to start lacquering? Thanks, Christian
