  1. Asked Peavey this: Is there any Body-Neck angle on the Cirrus 6-string fretless Bass models? The Angle between body and neck, is it straight like on a Fender or angled as on a Les Paul (~2 dgrs)? What is this Cirrus B-N angle, if any? Peavey refused to answer, secret information according to them. Anyone got a Cirrus to confirm any body-neck-angle and what that angle might be?
  2. Making a JEM pyramid inlay fretboard with the colour inlays made of paper - as the original. I'm having difficulties to get a clean result, though, with the edges of the paper pieces getting wet from the epoxy before it hardens and when it's all set it remains looking like paper with wet edges under the clear acrylic inlay. I had to put several kilos of weight on the inlays when setting as there were bubbles occuring from the acrylic inlay being placed over the epoxy and pressed into the routed cavity. How can this paper wetting be remedied? Does the extreme bubble-busting pressure needed during setting induce the epoxy absorption into the paper?
  3. What dimension of the nut files for making Classic Acoustic nut grooves are standard? What files would you need for this?
  4. Allied Lutherie - "Sorry, we only offer truss rods from our ready made stock. Todd"
  5. Body starts at about 24th fret, 667mm from nut. http://www.peavey.com/products/browse.cfm/...06%20Walnut.cfm Buter I got mine from Thomann. They certainly look and feel of good quality, won't be able to tell you how they perform in action for another couple of weeks. What lenght is it? Can't find any long ones there.
  6. Looking for a Dual-action truss rod for a Peavey Cirrus style Bass through-neck 6-string 35". I expect a 700-710mm one to be needed. Thought LMII would have some but didn't. Where can you get one, delivered to/in EU?
  7. Would carbon fiber rods on the sides (of trussrod) have any sufficient inmpact on the stability/rigidity here? What dimensions would be necessary? The board can be pressed flat by hand, but the Q is if those forces are locked by the glue after mounting, or will the FS board alter the neck shape after a while?
  8. "got lucky once or twice", Eep, not encouraging prospect odds. Anyone tried Stewmac's "Fingerboard Band Clamp"? Can they provide efficient pressure for a warped FB, or are the pressure they apply too weak?
  9. Have an old flatsawn Rosewood fretboard I plan to put on a maple scarf neck with 2-way trussrod. FB has over time become bent and ascew. Can I use it? What adjustments can be done? Or are the (flatsawn) forces the board puts on the neck too weak to have any effect on the straightness/linearity of the resulting glued neck? What aspects do I have to pay attention to when glueing it to the neck? Equipment? About a 5mm, 1/4" cranny visible, where the board "arches the back".
  10. What it s the body edge curvature radius on a Peavey Cirrus Bass? Also looking for the head angle of the Cirrus.
  11. VesQ - if you have no solution, refrain from comments. Environmental awareness is good, though. Alternatives and equality suggestions preferred. Soller SK and Guitarsupplies NL seems good. Anyone have experience of them?
  12. You obviously did not read post 4: Array EU Shipping £13 and Stewmacs fees ($11.95 for a FB to Europe) are more what I expect as for shipping fees to EU. USPS ------------------------------------------------------------ First-Class Mail International Package 1 lb $10.76 2 lbs $17.64 3 lbs $24.52 4 lbs $31.40 Maximum length: 24 inches Maximum length, + height, + thickness combined: 36 inches
  13. Indian Rosewood £20 + £10 (24ft). Ebony + £10. Fretting for 24ft with Dunlop frets for + £13 I have seen nowhere else. Erik have no 10" rad and, as I talked with him earlier, shipping is very high to Europe, if it haven't changed since. Array EU Shipping £13 and Stewmacs fees ($11.95 for a FB to Europe) are more what I expect as for shipping fees to EU. Some shops ships for £5.50.
  14. Anyone has any experience of the quality of the fretboard makings of Arrantz guitars, UK? http://www.arranzguitars.com/ Custom FB http://www.arranzguitars.com/custom-finger...der-wizard.html w Radiusing, 24ft: + £12. They installs Dunlop Frets for £13. Shipping to EU £13. Any competitors?
  15. Looking for a portable digital studio - 4 track or more, more than 2 sim rec tracks if available, 44.1 or higher - with the ease of recording of a Tascam with the digital sound quality obviously. Interested in the older units out there - that are still viable - but have concerns regarding fidelity and security regarding the digital material, heard of recorded song material dissapearing for various reasons (to have a secure data storage). Be it a Tascam, Fostex, Yamaha or whatever, ADAT, HD or Flashcard, etc. what is worth buying that is not spiffing new (used) in digital portastudios? Need to be able to use 3-4 mics sim at a rec session, even if it's only mono/stereo reccing. Somewhat of a eq would be preferred, 2 (hi, low) or more. Tascam usually has eq, Fostex not so much.
  16. Would have use of some 3 extra frets on a Classical acoustic. Seems feasible enought, adding some wood and frets, pinning, glueing. Has anyone done it, practical experience??
  17. LMI? Astronomical abroad shipping costs. Stewmac's 'Postal Air shipping' á $11.95 (for a Ebony 25.5" board, 2 for $16.95 ) are more reasonable, alas they have no QS, and only Radius 12". What would a board - 3 boards cost to ship to Europe as a private person? About 10x57-71x3-4cm ( / 2.54 = "), total under the pound. 6 months, long wait... What Woods do you exect to have?
  18. Who makes Fretboards in Ebony, RW, Pau ferro, etc, radiused (10", 430mm), slotted or unslotted available to Europe, at decent shipping costs? Guitar/bass 6str and wider alternatives wanted.
  19. What kind of Lacquer is used on Maple (JEM Pyramid) fretboards, for the wood protection? Epoxy? If so, what kind? Is there any better options available? "Thin" Van Halen finish. What does Fender use on their Maple Fretboards? What's best on Rosewood FBs (JEM Vine) then?
  20. 24 fret, 650mm scale. Is Hosz Faszination the only one in europe? Any competitors from US? LMI makes those, West Africa Ebony, for a fair cost but their shipping to Europe is off the charts. Stewmac ships 1-2 Ebony boards for $13-$15 via Postal Air, or $23 for DHL Express Air. More suggestions welcome.
  21. Looking for a Slotted 10" Radiused Ebony Fretboard 24ft 650mm, Quartersawn if available and a decent shipping to Europe. Also Looking for 10" radius 24ft Quartersawn Maple 650mm (fender) boards.
  22. Who made this Double-neck Guitar? I found the pic on Youtube, on a video-slideshow of various Yngwie Malmsteen pics and this Guitar popped up. Two scalloped necks, some kind of Elaborate Darkwood woodwork.
