  1. BIG THANKS to SKIBUM5545 & GPCUSTOMGUITARS!!!! The info on the materials and the techniques you shared kicked my brain into high gear!!! I am going tonight to go to the old Hardware store!!!! I think I am going to build a rectangle out of the materials you suggested and make a form out of the blueboard foam for the inside and neck support!!! The idea about stapeling the fabric/foam never popped into my mind always thinking glue (working with wood too much) so I'll have to pick up a good staple gun!!!! Where do you think I could score some of the pleather you talked about? I might just rhino line the outside!!! Got some left over from a truck bed I just did, the stuff is tuff as nails narly looking plus I have yet to see a case done this way, oopsss how many members are up here??? If I don't screw this thing up too bad I'll try and shoot some pix of it in construction and post them. Again thanks for all the help!!! If anyone else has some more suggestions please fill me in. Take Care RC 4XL
  2. The Explorer case is not long enough buy two inches!!!! Can you believe that !! So back to the drawing board so if anyone has built a case and would like to inlighten me I would appreciate it very much Thanks RC 4XL
  3. I am on my way to look!!! I forgot about the explorer bass if it is an open case it should fit, I HOPE!!!! Thanks for the information!!!! RC
  4. DUH!!! that would help, it's early forgive me. It is a Brownsville Bat Bass, kinda like a long scale sg bass with cutaways in the back of the body and a large head stock. Hope that helps again sorry about omittig that fact rc
  5. O.k. I am going to get laughed at but o well . I have been gifted a bass that will not fit in any case I have run across, locally or on the web. I have asked inside and outside deminsions from about a half dozen stores locally, about 15 online and from the case makers themselves, no go. Has anyone here made a custom case for a bass or guitar? If so what type of materials did you use??? Expecialy for the inside??? I have had trouble in the past glueing foam to anything, it just won't stick for me. Any help and or plans would be great!!! Thanks in advance and I hope you don't I am a complete idiot, i.e. "just go build a box big enough for the beast" I am not the best at just making up plans just thought I would ask here first. Thanks again RC
  6. Curtis that is the Rhoads Pro I believe, don't hold me to that!!! It looks like my friends RR-Pro, it has the Floyd rose and dual humbuckers. Only difference his is all black and he added EMG's so it would be like Kirk Hammets. I think I am going to make the whole body bigger if I can get sides that big. I would like to use the 30 scale neck but I have yet to find a neck thru neck with that scale. Wes are there pictures of your V on the site? I searched and came up empty. Thanks again. Ron 4XL
  7. THAT IS IT EXACTLY!!!! Right down to the bridge I would like to try and make!!!!! I think I will just do that!!! I could trace my friends RR-Pro to get the shape and then I should be able to route the pickup pockets and run with the rest. O yea sounds EAZY . Well it would be a start I guess that is why they call this a project!!! Thanks for the help and I look forward to seeing your work of art. One question are you putting a bridge like the picture or are you adding a whammy bar??? Later Ron
  8. I might be calling it the wrong thing but Scott told me that the length from the nut to the bridge had to be 34 inches to get the bass note scale right. Does this help any? I know that Ibenez and Gibson make short scale basses so the necks are not as long, I think that is what is meant by that. Sorry For lack of knowledge, let me go converse with the Scott-Man and find out what I am supposed to be talking about. Does my newness to this subject show??? But you have to start somewhere!!! Thanks Ron Yep your right, just checked it out on the web. (About the Gibson/Epiphone neck scale length) I am worried about the V being Huge also, maybe I could get the shorter length neck and it wouldn't look so strange???
  9. Hello all, I have been in love with the Jackson RR V shape for a long time , only one problem I play bass, so a friend from another forum told me to come ask around here about the possibility of making my own. My biggest question is the scale length I know the length from the nut to the bridge has to be 34" for a bass. On most of the RR-V's the bridge is in a boomarange / arrow shape at the very back of the guitar unless it has a locking tremelo system. Does anyone think I can get the length I need? Next question is getting a Blank that big????? Any help in this matter would be so appreciated!!!! By the way I am a newbee, My name is Ron been trying to play Rush tunes for the past three years on various basses mostly p-bass shaped and would just like to have something to go against my buddies V's, Explorers and RR-V's . Thanks again. Ron
