  1. I bet he enjoys it too much to call it a job. Ryan
  2. Acrylic = water based Polyurthene = oil based Ryan
  3. Clearly you've never listened to Steve Vai's "Passion and Warfare" album. That was recorded with stock blaze pickups on his 7 string. That album sounds absolutley amazing. I have a blaze bridge and air norton 7 for the 7 string I'm building. I can't wait. If your looking for high output pickups, DiMarzio might be the way to go. Check out the Evoloution, Steve's Special, Blaze, Breed, Air Norton, Super Distortion, Tone Zone. Check out their website, it's actually very helpfull, it gives all the spec's to their pickups. www.dimarzio.com Ryan
  4. Does anybody know where I can get chrome color material for making a JEM vine inlay. It dosen't have to be actual chrome (thats probably too expensive). Maybe like a chrome acrylic or urthene. Do they make liquid material that solidifies that you can pour into the cavity for the chrome look? Thanks for your help. Ryan
  5. $14 dosen't sound like it's going to get you a lot of bang for your buck. I wouldn't skimp on pickups. They contribute the most to your overall sound of your guitar other then type of wood you use. Deffinatly do not to get cheap-o ones if your expecting to get a good sound out of it. If you don't want to deal with active pickups, then you should take a look at Dimarzio. www.dimarzio.com They have a lot of bang for your buck, and on their website you can check out the specs of each one. I picked up an air norton 7 and blaze 7 for the 7 string I'm building. You should check out the Evolution and Air Norton pickups if your looking at the EMG 81 and 85. Ryan
  6. Ibanez Wizard fretboard radius' are 430mm wich is about 16.942in
  7. I'm getting to that point where I'm going to glue on my fretboard pretty soon and start shaping the back of the neck. I'm using a traditional truss rod and I'm building a 7string neck with a maple fretboard and 4-ply maple neck for added strength. Now, how thick does the neck have to be? I know wizard necks are 17mm at the 1st fret and 20mm at the 12th fret. Is that too narrow for a 7 string? I see most 7 string necks with 19mm/21mm necks. Can I make it as thin as a wizard neck? Is one or two mm's going to make that much of difference in strength? Ryan
