I am building an explorer and i wanted to make a neck out of Croatian oak cause it is a realy hard wood BUT i got a small peace and i will cut it and use for a fretboard but i bought peace of walnut and it is realy good quality. So a question for you guys: How are your experiences with walnut necks?

How to get a color like this? its a Ran guitars guitar, i realy like this color and i might paint my next Randy V like this...

yes they are... but i have sanded this only 10%! i haven't said that is finished

Progress so far: Body fresh under the saw: Body sanded: just a thin coat of paint over the body (not dried yet), to see marks and where to sand... i will post pictures when i'm finished routing for the pickups and neck pocket... cheers

Yesterday i prepared and sanded the walnut and cut the rough shape, today i will sand the contours and give the wood the final shape... will post some pictures later... stay tuned

i realy like the guitar, its awesome... BUT the wing is a bit too big for me! everything else is just the way i like it, i'd say an A not A+ just because that wing
