If you will go with a paf pro in the neck I sugest to try a norton in the birdge. It's a lot like fred but with more bass.

here I cant find titebond (original or II), or liquid hide glue. So for me the only option is ground hide glue .

john: go for it!!, I dont know if that will work or not, but you are walking in to the unknown (al least form me), and thats is cool. That is the way new things get done (discovered, invented, etc).

the only wood sealers you could find in my country are nitro ones. Is this ok, or this push me to use only nitro to finish my guitars?

I use both tone and volume a lot (but I hate GTR with more than one of each). Is a matter of personal style.

I agree with guitar_ed, the freatboard is better in a very hard wood

use ground hide glue, it is better than tite bond IMHO

shimmed on the side of the neck ? oh, thats very nasty to me, I agree 100% with you then.

all old fender guitars had their necks shimmed that way form factory(with sand paper), and people pay big bucks for those guitars...

Hi I was bored waiting for the parts to complete the neck of my fist project (custom Jem/ProAxe) when a friend gives me an old Ibanez Roadstar II neck. Because this neck will not match that project (having regular joint, 22 frets, and no way to put a locking nut cos the truss rod nut get in the way). I started my second project to make a body for this neck. bowser back to your question I sugest you buyng a RG5xx new from music123 or used from evilbuy and make it a custom jem, in the end you will have a bettrer guitar and will cost you only 100$ more

after my second or third project, I think I will be doing RG/JEM bodies too, of course made of caribean woods (mahogany, purpleheart, cocobolo, algarrobo, etc)
