  2. thank you Calum.........i gave up on this post....just read your info... i actually sat there and studied the diagram for a bit and realized this for myself..... the tone dpdt is doing nothing more than splitting the coil of each pickup.........and the volume dpdt is ingaging the capacitor thanks for the help
  3. hi Guys.........ok heres some updated pictures.......cheap camera....its not perfect but nice enough that im proud of it......and darn close to looking like something you would buy........ the neck was really stained dirty..and the repaired crack bothered me..... the frets were leveled and polished is why i bought it........ but i ended up burngin stains in it....then clear coating the whole neck.....tunred out pretty cool i think...plus i was able to wax it so its nice and slippery..... still waiting on a few minor parts to finish.....needs a nut shim forsure..... but i can tell the neck is going to play nice with low action...... the decal i bought off ebay...and its not a perfect replica but it will do.it was hard to put on.as it stuck to the backing paper http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...=19122005222523 Merry Christmas to everyone......Santa is bringing me a legacy head and legacy 2 twleve cabinet:)
  4. hi Can somebody help me with wiring this setup for a lefty http://www.ibanez.com/wiring/wire.asp?y=2004&w=JS1000 i know you mirror the connections on the volume and tone pot so counter clock wise rotation will be louder are brighter for a lefty the upper three prongs.........but im not sure if i need to mirror the connection's below the volume and tone pots.on the push pull section 6 spaded section...... the input and toggle switch i have wired as shown....thanks for any help that is given
  5. ok i bought a used maple right handed neck off evil bay item number 7371826590 ill redo the headstock to match the body....add a new decal.new chrome gotoh tuners..........only parts i lack in completeing this is a string hold down bar..... neck plate.bidding on one now........and locking nut pads for my nut.......
  6. its been a thought.......to just take the maple neck and use it.....but the 550 its on is original.and it has to be the best playing ibanez i have owned...low action and no fret buzz......so i really dont want to mess with it......
  7. thanks Jammy..... im somewhat proud of it....will look killer with a brushed pickguard... most likley going to go with rosewood..as i already have a maple 550
  8. hello heres my project......... http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...=28112005192921 i took a left handed black 550 ibanez guitar body.......stripped it using a heat gun.....plus sanded.......then i stained it using minwax waterbased stain....then i used my heat gun for the black marks......kinda like the steve vai bsb jem......then i put 9 coats of minwax polyurethene spray can..... i ordered a brushed aluminum pickguard for it..........i have a new left handed edge to put in it........im going to order a fred and paf joe here shortly....then i will need to find a neck......i plan to use a right handed neck as.finding a lefty is hard...... i have a question.......what step should i take now for the clear coat....it looks pretty nice as is.......but does seems a bit spoty shinny..........i have a bottle of 3m rubbing compound.....but im scared to use it thinking it will mess something up?....any help would be appreciated thanks
  9. im finishing up my project bsb body......i used minwax water stain....and im using the polyurethene minwax brand clear coat spray can......its pretty easy to use.... i have sprayed 7 coats so far.and its starting to feel thick....probably going to spray atleast one more...... two cans for one body.........plus i found..if something gets in it while your spraying.....including a nat or hair.........if you let it dry for about thirty minutes....you can take your wet finger..and rub against the problem spot lightly to remove whatever it is....worked good for me you can spray it.... outside ....but after a few sec's to let the fumes go...i take mine inside and leave it hanging on the shower rod.i think the cold might make it cloudy looking
