  1. So what does NIB stand for, anyway?
  2. google.com is on there sometimes too. I guess it's listing whatever search engine someone comes through.
  3. Before I fire up the iron, am I correct that when you add a Dimarzio humbucker to a Strat (HSS) you must reverse the red and green wire ( red to ground and green to hot)? Thanks.
  4. if played correctly. --Nothing is easy if a person is **** enough. but really, who cares if it is easy or not.if you only play what is easy for you,you will never improve. --Good point.
  5. Some of the low-end models are actually made of plywood. I have an old Korean Squier that has a plywood body (but ironically, the neck is almost comparable to the one on my American Strat).
  6. Any of the major dept. stores that carry guns/supplies should have Tru-oil. I have bought it at Wallyworld b4 .
  7. Dude. . . this is getting ridiculous! Nobody likes a showoff. Seriously though- sweeeet .
  8. July '04 issue of G1 had John Mayall in the "Under the Influence" column. He was pictured holding a "customized" Squier, but the pic left a bit to be desired. Does anyone have a link to a site with a picture of the complete guitar? I googled but didn't find anything. From what I can tell, it looks to be cut down kind of like a Steinberger (sp?). TIA
  9. I will assume you mean grams of gold . . .
  10. Powertab Editor is a free download. http://www.power-tab.net/
  11. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...3771923467&rd=1
  12. Jeff Scheetz, especially his earlier stuff.
  13. Where are they made? Just picked up a Strat (Squier II) and an amp at a deal. This one is made in Korea and plays exceptionally well. I had it in my mind that they were made elsewhere. . . TIA. BH
  14. Just curious how those of you who would consider yourself at least moderately good at what you do (playing, building or both) will answer. It seems that many people think that if you are good at something, you must have been born that way, and there is no real effort involved on your part.
  15. Could someone please point me in the direction of a website/page that explains how to determine the output of an amplifier (or if you are willing to explain it here, that's fine too)? I know this is basic stuff to the EE's on board, but I am trying to learn as I go, mainly by reading and putting stuff together. In other words, if I follow a schematic to build a 10 watt amp, how do I know it's actually 10 watts? Thanks in advance.
  16. I was digging through a box of electronic stuff a fellow gave me, and found an old Realistic SA-10 stereo amplifier (solid state stuff). I was thinking about gutting it and trying to turn it into a small guitar amp. It doesn't look like it would be much of a problem, any thoughts or advice from the pros?
  17. I am afraid I'll have to quote Mr. Mustaine on this one, "If there's a new way, I'll be the first in line, BUT. . ." and so on.
  18. I knew of one cat who had 'fixed-up' one back in the early/mid eighties as a slam on all the shredders guitars. He took all the popular mods (like the scallop shown in the pic) and carried them to an extreme, then kept the guitar on display at his store just for kicks. It was funny.
  19. I have an old Strat copy that I am thinking about putting a Floyd Rose (licensed) on. In 'dry fitting' it, it looks like the only routing I am gonna have to do is at the the back of the trem, where the fine tuners are. Is this a correct assumption, or is there something I am overlooking? Thanks in advance.
  20. I don't know if this has been covered, or why it should have to be for that matter, but the issue of hotlinking keeps coming up in various posts. It seems pretty obvious to me that it is (according to US law anyway) illegal - unless you have permission to use the image/text. If someone else created the picture/text, they hold the copyright. It does NOT have to be registered. http://www.copyright.gov/circs/circ1.html As far as bandwidth stealing itself goes, at the very least it is unethical. You are making someone else pay for something that you are unjustly using. It is no different than your neighbor hooking up to your power or water without permission.
