yeah, I've looked through Seymour Duncan's site, I used one of their diagrams to wire my rotary switch. But they don't have the new wiring I want. And thanks a lot Ansil, that is a bit confusing but I'm pretty sure I understand it all. I do understand the electronic theory of guitar wiring, but when it comes to making a position on a switch, I have no idea. I'll just look at the diagrams on the Duncan website for a while maybe I'll get it. A picture/diagram would be amazing, and not just for myself but I think this seems like such an awesome wiring for an HH guitar I can't believe I can't find it anywhere... Also, I don't have a lever switch yet - I'm waiting till I find a schematic for this and then I'll buy whatever's appropriate.

?.. If nothing else, could someone recommend a good website that explains wiring 5-way switches? I can't seem to find one.

I'm building a strat with two SD humbuckers, and I set it up with PRS-style rotary switching. I thought it would be cool to have a rotary switch, turns out it's not so cool. So, I thought up something else, and was wondering if it's possible, and if so how to do it: A five-position lever switch, the same as a PRS rotary except for the center position: 1 Bridge humbucker 2 Inner pickup coils, parallel 3 Both humbuckers, parallel 4 Outer coils, parallel 5 Neck humbucker Then, a push-pull volume pot for series/parallel switching, and a push-pull tone pot for phase switching. Those two things should only affect the positions using both pickups, so I count a total of 14 different sounds. I'm pretty sure I can figure out the push-pull pots, but when it comes to figuring out blade switches I have no idea what's going on. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks, Drew

Anyone know where to get the schematic for PRS rotary switch sounds on a 5-way blade switch? Positions: 1 Bridge pickup 2 Inner pickup coils, parallel 3 Outer coils, series 4 Outer coils, parallel 5 Neck pickup and yeah I know Stewmac sells a switch for just that, but I want to do it from scratch and understand how it works... Thanks

Two Questions: 1. Could anyone else add some opinions about swimming pool routes? 2. I was wondering if a swimming pool route (on a strat) might make it easier to get some harmonic feedback like with a semi-hollow guitar? If I mounted the pickups to the pickguard, do you think it would at least push it a little in that direction? I can imagine it either doing that or sounding horribly cheap.

OK well, I guess my only question is this: Do you think an alder body, all-maple neck and stainless steel frets should sound alright with humbuckers? I'm planning on using low impedance Alnico II pickups, so I think it should be alright.... but hey I could be wrong.

Oh yeah I know all about Trey's guitars. I'm not sure if all his Languedocs are koa but I'm sure his main one is. Still, I'm set on a strat. All the guitars I've had before were pretty nice and fragile, I want a guitar I can throw around and beat up for years and years... I'm not trying to copy his tone exactly, just get as close as I can I guess when I'm playing that style of music with a strat, but I'd still like to be able to play more Fender sounding stuff like The Band and Jeff Buckley... hmmm. Maybe forget I said anything about that. I just want a good versatile tone in a strat with humbuckers.

I'm starting a strat project soon, and I'm definitely putting humbuckers in it. I'm also using an all-maple neck with stainless steel frets, and I'm not sure if an alder body will make it too bright.... Why are most humbucking guitars mahogany or warmer toned woods? Are humbuckers actually brighter than alder, and the wood change is to compensate for that? Or could I get a more strat-like sound out of humbuckers putting them in alder? If I had to narrow down the tone I want to one player, I'd say Trey Anastasio.... but I wouldn't mind a bit in the strat direction tonally. Don't want the twang though. I'm coating the wood with a solid color so the wood type is only for tone. Any advice?

Has anyone tried spraying an amber tinted clear over white finish? If so, could you post some photos?

But then, I couldn't ask them to make an exact copy of a Fender, right? It's illegal?....

Does anyone know the exact differences between USA Custom Guitars' Strat bodies/necks and real Fender ones? For the neck, is it only that little point on the round part? And are the bodies exactly the same?

Hmmm.... I also want to install pickups without mounting rings, fender style. I'm building a strat, and I want to have pickups like the Tele Deluxe: I'm using nickel-covered seymour duncans. Does anyone know how they can be installed this way? It looks like they're attached to the pickguard, but without mounting rings. I don't care about (and don't understand) the double screws on the tele, seems like there should only be one on each side. Some tele deluxes have only one, and for my strat I don't care either way.

.... What's the difference between nickel and chrome?
