  1. They are one of my favorite bands, although their older stuff is better than the new stuff. It's too bad not too many people really know who they are.
  2. I have an L-500L and an L-500C in my PRS Santana SE. The L-500L has extremely clear tones, and when it is split it almost sounds acoustic. The C sounds quite a bit warmer than the L, but for some reason the sound gets really distorted on the bass side when I'm playing clean, it is quite annoying. I waited 14 weeks for my set, so think about that. Becky also cancelled my order without telling me. I'm still kinda dissapointed with their service.
  3. About a month ago when I was looking for a TOM for my guitar-in-progress there were more bass TOM's than guitar ones. I just assumed there would still be some around on their, my bad.
  4. I'm not bad, but I could be a lot better if I regularly practiced. Semi-talented for me.
  5. If you do go the Lawrence route, beware. I ordered my set (L-500L, L-280SM, L-500C) 10 weeks ago . Two weeks ago I asked Becky how much longer I should expect to wait (because no where on their website does it say an average wait of 6-8 weeks, don't bother looking, you won't find it), and yesterday I found out she had cancelled my order . Why? You got me there.... somehow in my email about waiting times she got the message that I didn't want my pickups. Sorry about the ranting, I'm extremely dissapointed after all of the hype I've heard about these pickups and I haven't even tried them yet. My pickups are now on their way though .
  6. I live in the tiny town of Marcellus in southwest Michigan, USA
  7. My neck is a flat sawn 1.75" thick piece of hard maple. I'm doing a Carvin headstock (6 on a side). What happens when a guitar is dropped seems to be creating the big contraversy over which one is better. Not saying that I won't care IF I drop my guitar, but I'm not going to scarf joint/not scarf joint for that reason. Will the afore mention neck blank take the strain of a 6 on a side headstock? I do plan on putting a volute on it.
  8. What are the pros/cons of scarf jointing verses having the neck and headstock carved out of one piece of wood?
  9. I've spent about $450 for everything minus finishing supplies (still have to order them) for my first build. A bit more than I had expected to spend, but thats kind of how everything works. Also I spent $90 for a quilted maple top , but I didn't have to buy any tools.
  10. Oh yeah, that hardware would fit right into that guitar. Definately something to save up for.
  11. Bigdguitars gets my vote for having the balls to enter his axe, it's not much to look at compared to the other 2 but it's got character
  12. Thanks for the replies, but they didn't really answer my question..... Anyways, I found out Carvin uses a 9 degree angle on their 6 in-lines without string retainers.
  13. Do 6 in-line headstocks have the same 13 degree tilt back angle 3-3 headstocks have?
  14. Oh, my mistake... I didn't realize that you were not going to use that plastic. Yeah, using the same wood would look much better I didn't know if that was an option for you. I guess I should have through the thread a little more thoroughly
  15. Remember you're also going to have to add a lip for the cover to sit on, I can't tell if you cut that cover big enough for one or not.
