  1. Just take the drawing to a print shop with the length measurements and they can print them to the correct size for you.
  2. But how do they get the electronic bits into an ES335, I notice that they do not have a cutout in the back so do u feed the electrical bits in through the "F" hole? It's not a life or death matter but sometimes I hate not knowing how something is done and this particular puzzle is getting to me. Cheers Tony
  3. All the playing aspects of the guitar seem ok, it holds it's tune, the action is fine. The spruce top is still in good condition just a few bubbles in the clear finish. The Rosewood laminate side looks a little more damaged but I think the laminate is still intact, I will have a better idea when I get the clear finish off. It gives me something to play while I'm building my Les Paul look alike Thanks for the reply Cheers Tony
  4. I've just picked up a heat damaged (left to close ot a heater by the look of it)Martin Sigma DR-41 deluxe for $100 (USD$50) and was wondering if anyone has repaired a heat damaged guitar. The damage is in an area on the top side of the guitar, the binding has melted off for about 4 inches at the waist and there is a small area of blistering on the sound board. The body of the guitar is seems to be very solid still. I thought I would replace the binding and refinish the clear lacquer. Is there anything that I need to look for when repairing the guitar? If anybody has experience repairing a heat damaged guitar your advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Tony
  5. I think I meet the requirements to look at the download section but I don't seem to be able to find anything to acess other than Brian's list but none of that is clickable. I'll porbably have a few silly questions like this until I sort out how it works in here, and yes I have done a search but to no avail. Thanks
  6. Does h-h mean humbucker-humbucker, if so the answer is yes
  7. My playing skills are not as good as they should be but I tend to play a little of everything. I try my hand at anything that is currently on the radio, a bit of blues and a bit of country rock. I pretty much try and play anything from Buddy Holly to Linkin Park I know I'm not going to get a pickup that will do all of this but a good allrounder will do
  8. No relationship that I know of, Excellent surname though
  9. Hi All, My name is Tony Calvert, I live in New Zealand and I don't feel complete unless I have a project (or sometimes two) on the go. I don't own a guitar as I have always had access to about 5 of them owned by other members of my family but I now live in a different city to them all, so I thought I'd build myself one. I started out thinking I would build a rosewood acoustic Dreadnought kit from LMI but in my research I stumbled across John Fishers "Building a Les Paul the hard way" website and decided it was probably the prettiest looking guitar shape around so yesterday I went out and purchased the mahogany. Here is a run down of what I plan; An Ebony coloured Les Paul look alike, mahogany neck and body, rosewood fret board, gold gotoh tuning machines, gold tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar, gold plated Seymour Duncan classic cover humbucker pickups, Stew-mac "wiring kit for Les Paul" and Gibson style gold knobs. ( Any suggestions will be appreciated especially on pickup and wiring kit choice). Although not guitar related I have a website site showing a few of my past and current projects, Kayaks and racing cars. http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/acalvert/ Thanks to everyone for providing a great resource for newbies such as myself. Cheers Tony
