  1. im not entirely happy about grovers either-the string sometimes sticks and snaps inside the peg leaving a messy job. id recommend something else.
  2. but can you, if you want, wire a pickup straight to the output jack, and if so, how?
  3. looks good! is that a JCM600 on top? how does the 4x12 sound with that thru it?
  4. saw a guy playing punk at a gig with one. bolt on necks (the neck and the body are screwed together-same as fender stratocasters) nice guitars for the price.
  5. all cheap guitars have it. get new pickups-please! i went to a gig and the guitarist had an ibanez gio thing with the crappy powersounds in, and it screamed all the way through. They got less applause than their songwriting deserved!
  6. guildford, in surrey. Home of the most overrated music shop- Andertons, and the academy of contemporary music...
  7. Im soon hoping to have made my first guitar , but i'm not keen on any sort of finish at all. So i'm wondering how little treatment can i give to my fretboard/headstock/body/neck and get away with it. I'm planning a natural bare wood image, so how many coats (if any) of laquer or whatever will i need to make sure the wood is safe? Also, I'm souping up a squier affinity strat ( ) for a friend, and im getting one of my art student friends to put a JemFP style finish on it. It will also be bare wood (i will sand off all the laquer and finish crap). How much body treatment to i need to give it before and after she does the artwork (and are there any specific paints she should use/steer clear of?) Cheers, Henry.
  8. beware! taking a fretboard off takes TIME! It took me 1.5 hours to steam off the top 5 frets last night.
  9. www.luthierssupplies.co.uk (no, i dont work for them, i just find them very helpful!)
  10. Is it me, or is that a TRS-7 lurking at the bridge? Great guitar though, i really love the look of the larger 707's. They compliment the wider neck nicely.
  11. Neck angle is a very scary concept! I would stick with some sort of aanj bolton if you're really not happy with the fretboard switching and neck angle issues. Which do you prefer: hassle-free or upperfret comfort? Personally, i like neckthru, but the neckangle issue is always a big confusion and scariness, so at the moment i'm a bolt on man.
  12. Love the natural finish-looking at it gets me really itching to get started with my own projects!
  13. www.luthierssupplies.co.uk will supply 22/24 fret pre-radiused pre-slotted ebony fingerboard blanks in B, A, or AA grade.
